01 — Mission

What this resource aims to do.

Information should not be a barrier to care. Patients deserve clear answers — without judgment, without jargon, and without sales pressure.

Utah's medical cannabis program is structured, regulated, and often unfamiliar to new patients. Many people approach it with questions they don't know how to phrase, instructions they don't know how to follow, and resources they aren't sure they can trust.

Southern Utah Medicinals exists to address that gap — not by replacing clinical or legal expertise, but by helping patients navigate the program with greater clarity before, during, and after they engage with it. Our work is reading: step-by-step guides, an independent directory, plain-language education articles, and the framing patients need to ask the right questions of the right people.

The intent is the simplest version of useful: take what is confusing and make it understandable, take what is scattered and put it in one place, and never overstate what an information resource is qualified to provide.

02 — Editorial Principles

The principles that shape every page.

These six principles inform how content is written, how directory listings are presented, and how the resource is maintained over time. They are not aspirational — they are the working rules behind every published page.
03 — Maintenance

How the site is kept current.

The resource is reviewed and updated on a defined cadence, with corrections welcomed at any time. The summary below describes how each kind of content is maintained and how readers can flag what needs attention.

Review cadence
Education articles, Utah Guide pages, and the site policy are reviewed at least annually and updated when significant changes to the program are publicly announced.
Directory updates
Listings are reviewed periodically and on request. Patients and listed entities may submit corrections at any time through the Contact page.
Reader corrections
Spotted a broken link, an outdated detail, or content that needs clarification? Reports come in through the Contact page and are reviewed in the order received.
Independence
The site operates independently of any clinic, pharmacy, manufacturer, or industry association, and is not owned by, controlled by, or affiliated with any of them.
Funding
No compensation is received in exchange for inclusion in the directory, placement within any section, or favorable description of any third party.

The full policy on update cadence, accuracy limits, and how to report corrections is available in the site's combined privacy, disclaimers, and accessibility statement.

04 — Boundaries

What this site is not.

Defining the boundaries of a resource is as important as describing its purpose. The points below name what Southern Utah Medicinals is explicitly not, so readers can route the right questions to the right destinations.
Important · Out of scope
  • Not a clinic The site does not employ clinicians, conduct evaluations, issue certifications, or maintain patient-care relationships. Clinical decisions belong with a Qualified Medical Provider.
  • Not a pharmacy The site does not sell cannabis products, dispense any medication, or carry any inventory. Product questions belong with a licensed Utah pharmacy and its on-site pharmacy medical provider.
  • Not an emergency channel The site is not monitored continuously and is not equipped to handle medical emergencies, urgent clinical concerns, or time-sensitive questions. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, please call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department.
  • Not a legal resource The site is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Questions about how Utah or federal law applies to your specific situation belong with a licensed attorney.
  • Not a substitute for clinical evaluation Reading articles or directory listings does not substitute for a clinical evaluation, a pharmacy consultation, or any other form of professional guidance. The information here is a starting point, not a destination.
Southern Utah Medicinals is, simply, a carefully written reference. Its value is in helping patients understand what they're navigating — not in replacing the professionals qualified to navigate alongside them.
